The Towson High School Environmental Club is committed to bettering our planet, starting here in our very community. Our club is a dynamic group of student advocators and educators committed to the school community, local environment, and beyond. Within the club you are sure to find an environmental initiative that piques your interest, through the exploration of our available committees!

If you have an idea for an environment-centered initiative you are passionate about, feel free to pitch it at the next meeting. We are always open to new ideas to help our environment!

In 2021, the club won the BCPS Green-60 competition and earned the BCPS Green School Certification for THS. The club hosts meetings every other Tuesday (calendar page has the most up to date times) where a multitude of environmental subjects are discussed and engaging activities are organized. The club also hosts clean ups on campus and off campus in coordination with Back River Restoration Committee. Our recycling Committee also collects recycling from classrooms afterschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Our composting committee members collect food scraps + other compostable materials during lunches and ensures that the food waste gets composted! Our Events and outreach committees plan events in the THS community. Previously we've organized school wide clothing swaps, faculty basketball and volleyball games, and participated in Fall Fest. Some of our previous initiatives includes the BCPS Electrification initiative, which was started in 2023 by some of our leaders to encourage BCPS to electrify the county and ensure that schools in the county are more sustainable. Our members also publish blogs, meet with representatives to lobby for environmental legislation, write letters to representatives, and are environmental stewards in their communities and beyond!
